Scientific Events

In 1992, 1997 and 2002, the Ethnographical Museum of Transylvania organized three anniversary symposia for celebrating 70, 75 and respectively 80 years since its founding. These events had a large participation of some important researchers in the domains of ethnography, folklore and history, of many former employees of our institution, of the large public. There were present also representatives of the Ministry of Culture, local and county officials who spoke highly of the historical role played by this institution in the Romanian culture.

Since 1991, the Ethnographical Museum of Transylvania has annually organized, together with the National Museum of Transylvanian History, a National Seminar of Ethno-Archeology, event that has the aim to make easier the dialogue between archeologists and ethnologists, in an interdisciplinary spirit. Several scientific researchers and museologists of the institutions from Cluj-Napoca, Bucuresti, Iasi, Timisoara, Baia-Mare, Braila, Sfantu Gheorghe etc. participate at these seminars. The Ethnographical Museum of Transylvania is represented, at each seminar, by specialists who, through their papers, bring an important contribution in finding out some elements of material culture discovered by the archeologists.
