The Transylvanian Museum of Ethnography, public cultural institution under the authority of Cluj County Council, invites you to the Folk Craftsmen Market, 2016. The event takes place during the next weekend, 27th – 29th of May, 2016 in Avram Iancu Square in Cluj-Napoca. The participants at the market are folk craftsmen from all the representative regions of the country.
The lovers of the traditional art and the amateurs of tourist souvenirs could buy at producer’s price, products of some folk contemporary craftsmen’s activity in Romania, such as: folk costumes, clay and wooden objects, glass and wood icons, painted eggs.

The Folk Craftsmen Market is organised annually by the Transylvanian Museum of Ethnography at the end of May in the centre of Cluj-Napoca city. By this type of events, the Transylvanian Museum of Ethnography wants to revive the traditional crafts of the rural communities, crafts that are going to disappear but surviving by the role of some craftsmen who have still preserved the contact to the tradition. Their products keep the traditional techniques, forms, ornamentation, and by promoting them by the museum the access of contemporary people to the veritable values of the old rural culture is facilitated and the integrations of the artefacts of traditional essence in the contemporary life is stimulated as elements with practical, aesthetic, affective and identity value.
