Our annual publication has appeared for the first time in 1958. The first steps were made in 1956, when the museum specialists wrote a note to the Ministry of Resort in order to publish a Guide and a volume related tot the collections of the Transylvanian Museum of Ethnography, on the occasion of 35 years since 1922 (the year when the museum was founded), anniversary that took place in 1957. The Ministry appoved only one publication called The Annual of the Transylvanian Museum of Ethnography.
The first edition of the publication represented an important moment in valorification of the researches concerning the traditional culture and civilisation, being the first publication edited by an ethnographic museum and the third Romanian publication in the field.
The Annual has been published till present in two series. The first one started in 1958 and ended in 1978, the second one started in 1997.
Great ethnologists and anthropologists have published over the years the results of their field and archive researches.
