The Transylvanian Museum of Ethnography, public cultural institution functioning under the authority of the Cluj County Council, invite you on Friday, August 20th 2021, 5 p.m., to the Fluid Art Demonstration event, organized in collaboration with artist Adriana Groza (https://www.facebook.com/adrianagroza4art)
Adriana Groza is a Romanian-American visual artist. She was born in Cluj-Napoca, but she settled many years ago with her family in the United States of America, and she currently lives and works in Hamilton, New Jersey. She creates abstract paintings, using fluid acrylic paints which she tampers on canvas in diverse ways, by using a variety of tools, except brushes.
“I am extremely delighted to perform a Fluid Art Demonstration in my hometown, Cluj-Napoca, at the Transylvanian Museum of Ethnography, to bring my passion back to where my roots are, and a part of my positive energy to the community from which I left many years ago. Through this event, I wish to inspire the young audience, and not only, to follow their natural gifts, the instinct of their passions and dreams, to work diligently and dedicatedly, to learn continuously and to always improve their methods and procedures; moreover, to never give up.
My art is a way of “self-healing”, introspection and a method to explore an understanding of time and matter. I enter the studio, leaving aside daily schedule or routine constraints, being fully confident of my work process. A white cloth, different paints diluted to the needed viscosity, some unconventional tools and techniques for handling paints. These are my tools. I apply the background color, then I allow my feelings and imagination to flow freely along with the paints. I neither dominate nor restrict them. Ideas repeated in my works are often connected with the interpretation of time and matter, seen from antagonistic perspectives. It could be a calm and timeless scene on a beach, where I immortalize the unique and irreplicable moment of a single wave pouring its foams on the sand, or a frame in the ephemeral existence of a flower or creature. At first, I may have an idea or concept in my mind, or maybe I’m preoccupied with my thoughts, or maybe I’m living in that moment. Gradually, I integrate and find myself in the fluid movement of the paints on the canvas in front of me. There is no pressure or constraint, only the freedom to observe the present moment, to evolve with it, disconnected from any pressures of the outside world. Time suddenly loses its real meaning and I can invite possibilities. I am completely open to bring into light what appears in front of me on the canvas. In this sense, I am often a creator and a spectator during creation. The certainty of existence in a space which was and will remain here for millennia to come, also after my arrival and departure, allows me to anchor myself and live in that moment, to live it completely. My best works are active and evoke movement in space, leaving or entering space for spectators. I enjoy sharing with the public my own thoughts and feelings connected with my art, or giving everyone the freedom to build their own impressions and emotions. I find conversations related to feelings, ideology, technique or materials generated by painting contemplation to be energizing. In my opinion, sharing art in this way completes its entire value.
Since mid-2019, I have publicly exhibited my creations in galleries and other art-loving spaces (Princeton, Trenton, New York City, New Hope, etc.), I have painted live at numerous events, and in 2021, I have launched a workshop All Inclusive (A Fluid Art Experience) in my personal gallery, which enjoys recognition and success. Many of my paintings have been purchased by individual collectors or corporations, most recently, paintings which have been purchased by the State of New Jersey for the new buildings of the Department of Health and Taxation in Trenton, NJ, following a rigorous selection process”.
The event will take place between 5-7 p.m., at the headquarters of the Transylvanian Museum of Ethnography (Reduta Palace, 21 Memorandum Street).
