Between May 25 - June 19, 2023, the Ligeti Festival will take place in several locations in Cluj.
Part of the Festival’s events will be organized in partnership with the Transylvanian Museum of Ethnography, a public cultural institution that operates under the authority of the Cluj County Council. Therefore, we invite you on June 8, 11, 16 and 19 at the museum’s headquarters (21, Memorandum street), as follows:
On Thursday, June 8, in the Cellarium Gallery, from 6:00 p.m., the opening of the Ede Terényi painting and graphics exhibition – easel composers will take place.
Also on June 8, from 7 p.m., in Reduta Hall, the unitedberlin ensemble concert - PanTONE Sound Code will take place. Program: Doina Rotaru – Crystals for flute and piano; György Kurtág – Pen drawing; Portait from the “Játékok” cycle for piano; Gabriel Irányi – Five Studies to Paintings by Paul Klee for wind quintet (Study to “Broken Key”; Study to “Dream Disaster”; Study to “Night Blossom”; Study to “Rotation”); Sidney Corbett - Piano Valentine No. 11, “That's all, goodbye”, in memoriam György Ligeti; Sidney Corbett - Piano Valentine No. 18, in memoriam Anna Stepanovna Politkovskaya; Márton Illés - Drei Aquarelle für Klarinette; György Ligeti – Six bagatettes for wind quintet.
On Sunday, June 11, at 06:00 p.m., in Reduta Hall, Clouds Labyrinth - recital by Lukas Ligeti (Austria/USA) will take place. Program: Music by Lukas Ligeti, performed on marimba lumina; Great Circle’s Tune II; Chimæric Procession; Nightmare Logic; Live Remix of Meredith Monk’s “Shadow Song”; Meditations on “Kakoada”; Bells and Sirens; Echoes from a Labyrinth of Clouds; Entering: Perceiving Masks; Exiting: Perceiving Faces.
Friday, June 16, from 7:00 p.m., Reduta Hall will host the Ligeti cinema-concert at TIFF – Trio Contraste. Performers: Ion Bogdan Ștefănescu - flute; Sorin Petrescu - piano; Doru Roman – percussion; Special guest: Dorin Cuibariu – clarinet, saxophone, trombone. Program: TABU film, directed by Fr. On Monday, June 19, at 06:00 p.m., in Reduta Hall, the closing concert of the festival will take place: Rhapsody “trompe l’oeil”: Ligeti and the Cluj School of Composition, the “Couleurs” Ensemble. Carina Coste - flute; Sergiu Cebotari - clarinet; Sonia Vulturar - violin; Adela Hania Moldovan - cello; Sanda Răileanu - harp; Alexandru Lazar - piano; Toni Vîntur - percussion. The musical direction: Alexandru Ștefan Murariu. Program: Tiberiu Herdlicska - Efata for flute and piano; Alexandru Murariu - Rouen Cathedral for flute and violin; Tudor Feraru - Starlight for ensemble; Şerban Marcu - Unison Toccata for piano, clarinet and cello; Ciprian Pop - Gates for ensemble; Áron Török-Gyurkó - Origo for the ensemble.
