The “Days of Cultural Redoubts from Transylvania and Banat” project is a cultural initiative that aims to promote mutual cultural values from Cluj-Napoca, Timișoara and Brașov, by researching and documenting the history and specificity of cultural edifices known as cultural redoubts, valorization as a photo-documentary exhibition of the history and specificity of these cultural redoubts with an important role in hosting and creating cultural events that have an impact on the local public, the design and public presentation of a cultural, artistic and educational program specific to the three cultural institutions in Transylvania and Banat. Each of the three institutions has a well-defined role within the project.
Thus, the Transylvanian Museum of Ethnography in Cluj-Napoca will design and organize a photo-documentary exhibition about the history of the three institutions and it will organize an educational workshop with ethnographic specificity in all three locations. The German State Theatre in Timișoara will stage a play and organize an educational workshop for children on how to prepare a play. The Reduta Cultural Centre in Brașov will present a ballet performance and organize an educational ballet workshop, aimed at familiarizing children with the simplest dance movements.
The photo-documentary exhibition made by the specialists of the Transylvanian Museum of Ethnography in Cluj-Napoca within the project financed by AFCN aims to highlight, with the help of archive photos, what was the role of these cultural institutions over time, how the architecture changed due to various local urban policies, what more important events took place in the Reduta buildings, what personalities of the time crossed the threshold of these “Redutas”. Concretely, the most significant data from the history of each cultural edifice will be pointed out by referring to the bibliographic sources provided by each institution.
The exhibition will include 20 panels with the size of 1m/1m, printed in color. On each panel, 4 photos of each building will be displayed, accompanied by explanatory texts and links to information sources.
As there is also a cultural redoubt at Sighet, which the project team found out about later, information and photos with the history and importance of this building will be included on 2-3 panels.
The project aimed at the itinerary of this exhibition in all the involved cultural locations.
