The Transylvanian Museum of Ethnography, a public cultural institution operating under the authority of the Cluj County Council, invites you to the opening of the exhibition “Măsura” (The Measure), which will take place on December 12, 2025, at 1 p.m., at the Transylvanian Museum of Ethnography, 21 Memorandumului Street.

The exhibition is unique and includes pieces from the heritage of the Transylvanian Museum of Ethnography, the National Museum of Transylvanian History, and the special collections of the “Lucian Blaga” Central University Library and the “Octavian Goga” County Library.

The exhibition “Measure” focuses on illustrating the traditional systems of quantifying various fundamental quantities (time, space, volume, mass) that intervene in the daily life of the rural world of Transylvania, a world in which empirical measurement methods coexist with standardized ones.

Among the exhibits are clocks, chains for measuring distance, wooden and metal measures used for grains and liquids, compasses, scales, calendars, and measuring instruments dating from the 19th and 20th centuries, most of them from the Transylvania region.

The “Measure” exhibition is an event organized by the Transylvanian Museum of Ethnography in collaboration with the National Museum of Transylvanian History, the “Lucian Blaga” Central University Library, and the “Octavian Goga” County Library.

The more than 100 exhibits can be admired at the Transylvanian Museum of Ethnography for approximately two months, from December 12, 2025, to February 15, 2026, Wednesday through Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with last admission at 5 p.m.
