The Erasmus+ I.C.A.R.E. project establishes the theoretical framework for reinterpreting European cultural heritage

On July 13–14, 2026, the Transylvanian Museum of Ethnography hosted the transnational meeting of the Erasmus+ project “I Connect, Appreciate, Reinterpret, and Engage – Migrant Participatory Project Learning Through Reinterpretation of European Cultural Heritage” (I.C.A.R.E.) -2025-1-PL01-KA220-ADU-000354180.

Together with partners from Poland (Muzeum Warszawy – coordinator), Italy (Stazione Utopia), and the Czech Republic (Centrum demokratického vzdělávání), key aspects of the project’s theoretical framework were discussed.

It combines aspects of intercultural communication, as well as a translinguistic approach, participatory and experiential learning, cultural mediation and methods of heritage interpretation, social-emotional development, digital and creative pedagogies, and project-based learning.

This framework will serve as the basis for future activities with adults who have experienced migration, providing support for interpreting and reinterpreting cultural heritage from their own cultural perspective.

The main organizational outlines were also established for the European Art Camp, which will take place next April in Warsaw and is dedicated to adult migrants and educators from the four partner countries (Andreea Iasko, project coordinator from the Transylvanian Museum of Ethnography).
