The Fall Festival returns to the “Romulus Vuia” Ethnographic Park on October 3 and 4
Have you ever experienced the true scent of autumn? Not the hurried kind from hot city pavements, but the autumns of old wooden courtyards where ripe plums simmer quietly in large copper cauldrons and sweet steam from freshly baked bread mingles with thin smoke from the hearth.
If you’re nostalgic for the flavours and village squares of yesteryear, we recommend the Fall Festival, which returns to Cluj-Napoca on the weekend of October 3–4, 2026, at the “Romulus Vuia” National Ethnographic Park.
We have a long-standing relationship with this festival. Last year’s edition, which took place in mid-October, attracted over 5,000 visitors and saw nearly 60 producers and artisans fill the farmyards with their finest dishes.
We’ll celebrate the bounty of the earth in traditional style in a fairytale setting surrounded by haystacks, golden pumpkins and homemade treats.
This year, the event is taking place a little earlier, in early October, to make the most of the first warm days of autumn.
Together with their partners — the Meta Urban Association, the ‘ASTRA’ Câmpia Turzii Branch Association, the ‘Flori de Sare’ Association and the Cluj Folk Artisans Association — the organisers promise a fair ‘just like in the old days’, showcasing the very best that Transylvania has to offer:
Traditional flavors: authentic ‘silvoiță’ simmered slowly, golden-brown ‘palanețe’, warm pies, as well as cheeses, meat dishes, artisanal bread, pure honey, and pickles made according to our grandparents’ recipes.
The Fall Pantry: fresh fruits and vegetables, natural syrups made from cranberries, currants, fir buds, or elderberries, tomato juice, and stew (‘zacuscă’).
Craft and Tradition: folk artisans will once again display their dowry chests—featuring everything from handmade figurines and dolls to icons carefully painted on glass.
The ‘Romulus Vuia’ Ethnographic Park is not just a venue for this festival, but the natural setting where Transylvanian farmsteads come to life once again. So, we invite you to leave the hustle and bustle of the city at the gate, take your children by the hand, and rediscover the joy of a slower pace of life.
