Traditional Dance Workshop

BEYOND AND BEFORE THE GESTURE: CHOREOLOGICAL GRAMMARS AND DIDACTIC STRATEGIES is the name of the workshop dedicated primarily to traditional dance performers and instructors.

On April 26, 2026, starting at 1:00 PM, in the Reduta Hall of the Ethnographic Museum of Transylvania, participants will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of relevant aspects of the transmission process of traditional dance, in the context of contemporary folklorism.

During the workshop, we will highlight the relationship between what is perceptible in dance (what we see/hear/feel) and what is “invisible” in dance (the mental aspects) — a relationship that underlies movement. We then aim to identify several possible ways of constructing didactic strategies for the (stylistically appropriate) teaching of traditional dances. (Dr. Petac D. Silvestru)

Registration for this workshop costs 45 lei per person. Students, master’s students, and doctoral students attend free of charge.

The dance workshop is attended by master’s students, undergraduate students, and alumni of ANMGD.
