The Union of Armenians in Romania - Cluj branch, in partnership with the Transylvanian Museum of Ethnography, a public cultural institution under the authority of the Cluj County Council, invite you to the event intended to commemorate the Armenian Genocide, which will take place on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, from 6 p.m., in the Reduta Hall of the Transylvanian Museum of Ethnography.
For Armenians everywhere, the date of April 24, 1915 carries one of the most tragic resonances: it is the date of the commemoration of the Genocide against the Armenians, when about 1.5 million people perished, from children to the elderly, just for the simple fact that they were Armenians.
On this occasion, there will be a series of lectures about this tragic moment of the Armenian people, followed by a collage-show with texts and music, which evokes those times, but also today’s and future prospects for this people, together with prof. dr. Ruxandra Cesereanu and Călina Părău, Teodora Tămaș, Diana Huțanu, from the Faculty of Letters in Cluj, by musicians Cosmin Rafael Bălean, Norbert Dumitrescu and actor Karen Sebesi. The audience will have the opportunity to hear again the traditional Armenian instrument: the duduk.
